Glamping near Cebu: the mountains are closer than you think.

Here's the thing most visitors never learn about Cebu: the island is a mountain range with beaches attached. A spine of highlands runs its whole length, and from almost anywhere in the city you can be standing in cool air, above the clouds, in under two hours. Glamping, the tent-but-make-it-comfortable school of sleeping outdoors, has quietly taken root all along that spine.

A few places doing it well, from the ground up:

Above Dalaguete, the classic

150 Peakway Mountain Resort sits in Mantalongon, Dalaguete, in the misty vegetable-basket highlands just below Osmeña Peak, the island's highest point. You sleep up where the fog rolls through in the morning, and the peak itself is a short hike for sunrise. It's roughly three hours south of the city, and the temperature drop alone is worth the drive.

Moalboal, tents by the sardine run

Bambusa Glamping Resort brings the glamping formula to the coast near Moalboal, a short ride from Panagsama Beach and its permanent, shore-accessible sardine run. Sleep canvas-side, snorkel a bait-ball of a few million fish before breakfast. That sentence alone is the pitch.

Tuburan, the group trip

Formosa Camp Resort in Tuburan, on the island's quieter northwestern side, is about two hours out and built for barkada-scale nature trips, the kind where the tents matter less than the long table between them.

Sumilon, the island version

Off Cebu's southeastern tip, Bluewater Sumilon Island Resort runs a glamping setup on an island that still feels like a secret: sandbar, lagoon, and not much else. It's the far end of the spectrum: the most effort to reach, the most complete disappearance once you do.

A word on booking

These places are small by design, a dozen tents or domes rather than four hundred rooms, so weekends and holidays go early, and the weather in the highlands is a genuine season (bring a jacket, December through February). Book direct where you can; the small operators keep more of it that way.
